Small Stars, building a world of English learning
Background
Education First wanted to recreate the world of Small Stars and make them more conducive to preschool brain development. My team was responsible for creating the graphic components and layout in both the books and the app.

Building the Small Stars World
Having observed students in schools interact with the product, we decided to simply the characters into shapes. These characters were used throughout the book, app, videos and merchandise.

Unit intro is used as dividers for new themes and progression.
Workbooks use characters to make practice more engaging.
In addition to interviewing donors and experts, we also sent out a survey and received 60 responses. To gain more qualitative insights on the topic, we designed a VIP themed Cultural Probe for 6 individual donors to fill out.
Readers are used as a review at the end of each unit and feature different characters' story.
6 Student Books are represented by a character.
Each Student Book is paired with a Workbook.

The app allows kids to engage with the lessons through videos and interactive lessons that can be done at home.
