Climasaga, a game about philanthropy and planet

Challenge

With the looming threat of climate change, only 2% of the world's philanthropy goes to solving this crisis. Therefore, Active Philanthropy asked our help to come up with a solution to motivate their clients in giving to the climate cause. Our focus was on individual European philanthropists, who work with non-profit organizations such as Active Philanthropy, when making their choice to give.

Survey

In addition to interviewing donors and experts, we also sent out a survey and received 60 responses. To gain more qualitative insights on the topic, we designed a VIP themed Cultural Probe for 6 individual donors to fill out.

Insights

icon-89.png

People are more drawn towards imagery of people who are being affected by climate change of developing nation as opposed to developed nation.

icon-90.png

Donors are willing to fund climate change projects, but they find it hard to understand the connection between
climate change and children/education.

icon-91.png

Donors often perceive climate projects as high investment which makes it intimidating for them to start.

10 Enable cards

There are 9 Enable cards, which are used after a disaster hits and players can pick who they want to use it on.

Health bar

Some of the disasters affect health of the characters, and so the bar helps to track. If the health goes to 0 the character dies.
